Happy birthday Pete

As I’m sure you’re aware, or at least you will be if you listened to the show, yesterday was Pete’s birthday. He was 29 years young. Ancient! On the show, we tested Pete’s knowledge of trendy, cool things, and he failed spectactularly, but he did win Chris v Pete, taking the score to 3-3 overall.

After the show we went out for some Portuguese chicken and some drinks at an Irish drinking venue. Good fun was had by all, and Pete did get successfully drunk! Result. We’ll post up some pictures later!

3 months! 3 whole months! That’s how long it’s been since we updated this thing. We musta forgotten about it’s existence. For that, let us please say, sorry, and from now on, we will *try* to keep this up thing up to date. What we need to do is hire someone to look after it for us, for free mind you, we aren’t made of money!

This blog aims to be a place where you can watch videos we talk about on air, somewhere we can put up links to funny things we’ve found, a place to download our previous shows, and kinda just anything else that comes into our heads.

So, from now, at 4.27pm on the 22nd February, we will TRY to sort out lives (and this website) out!

Just found this video on youtube of Lady Gaga performing at her university talent show under her real name, Stefani Germanotta, 4 years ago. Such a lovely voice and very talented on the keys too – what happened to turn her into the crazy woman we know (and love) today?

Incredible isn’t it? Love the fact that the judge at the end says ‘Watch out Norah Jones!’ – little did she know!

This is ridiculous – the Irish accent is now the world’s most sexiest on men – interesting…

‘Men with an Emerald Isle brogue came top in a poll of 5,000 women worldwide, while the French accent only came fourth, just ahead of Australian.

Italian, the native language of stars such as jockey Frankie Dettori, was second.

In third place was the Scottish burr, made famous by actor Sean Connery

English was sixth and Swedish was seventh, with Spanish, Welsh and American completing the top 10.

A spokesman for www.OnePoll.com, which carried out the international survey, blamed French president Nicolas Sarkozy for the French accent’s fall from grace.

“The French accent is nowhere near as popular as it used to be,” he said.

”You can probably blame Nicolas Sarkozy for that, he has single-handedly changed the perception of how the world sees French men.

”It is good news for the Irish that they have come top, they have been in and around the top five for years now.

”But high-profile stars such as Colin Farrell have helped bring the accent more to the fore.”

The study also found three fifths of women admitted they hade been seduced by someone purely because of their accent, while two fifths said they would much rather sleep with a man who had a nice accent, compared to a harsh one.

It seems that Chris’ X Factor favourites are the nation’s favourite as it was revealed today that the Irish twins received the highest amount of votes after Saturday’s performance – proof that they are awesome!

Simon Cowell – Utter Genius!

So as you will have seen if you watched X Factor tonight it turns out Westlife are to release Daughtry’s track ‘What About Now’ which was played on loop for ten minute periods during the early stages of the auditions and boot camp. The use of the track was interesting, obviously Chris Daughtry is a product of American Idol, and therefore Simon had an interest. As far as we could tell the use of the track was paving the way for Daughtry to try to conquer the UK, something which would have made Chris very happy, as they are ‘awesome!’ Unfortunately (for Chris) this is not the case, and instead, represents the genius of the man that is Simon Cowell – get the song into the public consciousness (it got into the iTunes top 10 – not bad for the 7th single by an unknown American band, that only got to no.18 in the US) and then get one of the most successful and still popular (how?) acts of all time to release it! By why oh why do pop bands cover rock songs that were originally sung by really gravelly singers – Ronan Keating’s god awful cover of Iris anyone? The track, written by former Evanescence members Ben Moody, David Hodges and Josh Hartzler, who is married to Amy Lee, the lead singer of Evanescence will be released next Monday.

We were also chatting earlier about the possibility of every official UK No.1 single from now until the new year, having an X Factor connection, what with Cheryl being no.1 today and new singles on the way from JLS, Leona, Alexandra, The X Factor charity single, the X Factor winner, Westlife and I’m sure there are more. Just how much money does Simon Cowell make an hour? Mr Cowell – we salute you!

John and Edward – A Nation Divided

Cor! Jedward are the new marmite aren’t they? You either love them or hate them – in our case, Chris loves them and Pete hates them. Chris is fed up with the Jedward bashing and thinks they’re entertaining and much better than at least half of the other contestants, whereas Pete can’t stand them. Chris was outraged to find out that, according to the always reliable The Sun J&E have been offered free one-way tickets back to Ireland. Lastminute.com has also extended the offer to ANY twins called John & Edward – which is frankly hilarious, particularly to Pete, who really hopes the twins take up the offer.

A spokesman said: ‘the twins are good fun, but perhaps it’s time for the X Factor to go back to being more about talent.’

To add insult to injury, former X Factor contestant and nobody Austin Drage has described the twins as ‘insulting’ to hard working singers – Austin, shutup dude, who the hell are you anyway?

Having watched tonight’s performance, Chris labelled it ‘INSANELY awesome’ and told all the haters to get lost – except Pete, who can stay. Just.

X Factor Contestants to Butcher MJ Classic

Remember that god awful X Factor cover of Mariah’s ‘Hero’ last year? Well SyCo’s got this year’s lot at it as well, and chosen Michael Jackson’s ‘You Are Not Alone’ as the charity single, raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. This can only be awful and will probably ruin the song, which is well unfair. As entertaining and simply amazing as Chris thinks John & Edward are, we can’t help but think that they aren’t best suited to singing such a beautiful song. How about Miss Frank – is whatsherface going to rap? R Kelly won’t be complaining though – he penned the 1995 hit for Jacko, and will surely make rather a lot of money out of this track, he probably needs it, after being very quiet recently!
